preliminary task 2- final product and reflection

This is how the final t shirt design looks. I added the crown motif in the middle of the sleeve as a final touch.

This preliminary task was a little harder than the first one. Not in terms of the task itself, because for me drawing a few elements in Procreate is easier than doing a whole photoshoot because I'm more used to drawing, but the process was harder.

I realised that I tried to rush the design just to get it done and I didn't put enough thought into it initially. I am glad that I added the graphic elements; even though they aren't a big addition, I think they bring the vision together nicely. I chose these elements (the candle and the crown) because I think they are important parts of the visual identity of the movie. While a cool image and font looks nice on a t shirt, the meaning of these elements will only really stand out to audiences who have prior knowledge of the movie.

At least in my opinion, merch items are meant to make the owner feel like they are literally wearing a piece of their identity, because we construct a big part of our identities around the media that we consume. These type of merch items can also help build community around people who like the same media; it's like an "if you know, you know" moment.

Over all, I am happy with the final product and I hope that it is representative to the movie.
